Hallertau - the hop country

The largest single hop-growing area in the world is located in the middle of Bavaria (in Germany) -

not far away from Munich (the capital of Bavaria - well known for the Oktoberfest and the Hofbräuhaus),

Ingolstadt (a 1200 year old town, which is also known for the car-manufacturer Audi) and the famous and historical city Regensburg. But in the Hallertau is also the Benedictine abbey of Weltenburg: the oldest monastery in Bavaria which was founded around 600 AD, and which is perhaps one of the oldest breweries in the world. But there are a lot of other breweries and places of interest in the hop-country.
